Trump Reiterates Support for Health Care Reform: ‘Obamacare is Unsatisfactory’

Former President Donald Trump is sticking to his plan to replace President Barack Obama’s health law with a “better” program, despite Democrats gearing up for another round of the Obamacare wars.

Mr. Trump caught Republican lawmakers off guard by pledging over the weekend to revive the push to repeal and replace if he is elected president in 2024.

His GOP allies responded with caution, indicating that they have not yet seen a viable alternative that could pass in a divided Congress. However, Mr. Trump remains unwavering and escalated his commitment in posts early Wednesday.

Mr. Trump remarked that providing “much better Healthcare than Obamacare for the American people will be a priority of the Trump Administration.”

“It is not a matter of cost, it is a matter of HEALTH. America will have one of the best Healthcare Plans anywhere in the world. Right now it has one of the WORST!” he wrote.

Democrats are seizing upon Mr. Trump’s statements. The GOP’s failure to repeal Obamacare in 2017 led to liberal victories in the subsequent midterm election cycle.

The law has become firmly entrenched across the country, with red and purple states choosing to accept federal Obamacare funds, enabling them to expand Medicaid eligibility.

North Carolina will soon make up to 600,000 people newly eligible for Medicaid.

Mr. Trump, who frequently criticized the policies of his predecessor — Mr. Obama — says the goal is to find a replacement for the program plagued by high premiums.

“I don’t want to terminate Obamacare, I want to REPLACE IT with MUCH BETTER HEALTHCARE. Obamacare Sucks!!!” he wrote.
