Four People Killed in Apparent Murder-Suicide at North Carolina Homeless Camp

Police in North Carolina announced that they found four deceased individuals near a homeless encampment, leading authorities to believe it was likely a murder-suicide.

The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office reported that the bodies of two men and two women were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds at approximately 9:30 a.m. near a rural encampment in Autryville.

Based on information from Raleigh CBS affiliate WNCN, the sheriff’s office confirmed that the deaths resulted from a murder-suicide, adding that there is no apparent threat to the general public.

NBC affiliate WRAL-TV indicated that three of the victims were found outside of a tent, while the location of the fourth victim was not disclosed.

Autryville is situated approximately 55 miles south of Raleigh.

The encampment was situated on a lengthy private road with numerous large puddles.
