Tesla’s mail delivery may be delayed as the Swedish postal workers union Seko has decided to join the ongoing strike against the U.S. electric vehicle company. Seko is aligning with Tesla’s striking mechanics and Sweden’s dockworkers’ union, leading to the blockage of all Tesla car imports.
As a result of Seko’s participation in the strike, Tesla is likely to experience delays in receiving mail, and essential maintenance parts will no longer be shipped through CityMail and PostNord.
The inclusion of striking postal workers has expanded the scope of Tesla’s labor dispute in Sweden. Following the unionization of over 100 mechanics in the country, Tesla declined to sign a collective bargaining agreement with the union IF Metall, which represents the mechanics.
Subsequently, the workers went on strike, citing Tesla’s hiring of strikebreakers to mitigate the impact of IF Metall’s strike. Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk, have a history of opposing unionization at their facilities in the U.S. and abroad.
