The New York Jets are taking steps to avoid a repeat of their struggles after a bye week, which plagued them last season. The Jets had a promising start before their bye week, but they ended up losing seven of their last eight games. To prevent a similar collapse this season, head coach Robert Saleh has made some adjustments to the team’s schedule. Saleh consulted with the team’s sports science department and sought input from the players to find a better balance between physical and mental preparation for the remaining 11 games. Last season, the team focused heavily on staying physically fresh but neglected mental preparation. Saleh acknowledges the importance of taking care of the mental aspect of the game as well. The revised schedule includes changes to workouts and meetings, allowing players more time for recovery and rejuvenation. The Jets are hoping that these tweaks will help them maintain their momentum and perform better after the bye week. Saleh has studied last season’s performance and made efforts to improve. The team knows the significance of starting strong after the bye and is determined to achieve their goals for the season. While Saleh’s changes to the schedule are a positive step, the players also need to hold themselves accountable and put in the effort to succeed. It’s a collective effort to ensure that the team performs at its best. In injury updates, wide receiver Randall Cobb and rookie offensive lineman Joe Tippmann did not practice. Cornerbacks Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed are in the concussion protocol but participated fully in practice. Left tackle Mekhi Becton, wide receiver Irvin Charles, and cornerback Michael Carter II were limited in practice.
