The NFL held a moment of silence to honor the victims of attacks in Israel before Thursday night’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos.
But at least one fan had a different idea.
After the 10 seconds of silence had ended and the public address announcer had said “thank you,” one fan shouted out an offensive phrase that can be paraphrased as “fornicate Hamas!”
There was a smattering of cheers in the previously quiet stadium, but before any broad reaction could happen, the announcer started introducing the national anthem.
Hamas is the Palestinian Islamist terror group that controls the Gaza Strip and on Saturday launched a massive series of attacks that killed 1,200 Israeli and foreign civilians, including over 20 Americans, and took numerous hostages.
All this weekend’s NFL games will feature a moment of silence.
Before Thursday night’s game, the announcer said “this past week we witnessed a horrific attack in Israel. We mourn the lives lost in the massacre, including many Americans. We pray for innocent civilians in the Middle East, who continue to be in harm’s way. The NFL, the Chiefs and the Broncos ask that you join us in a moment of silence.”
