Phillies Defeat Marlins to Set Up NL Division Series Rematch with Braves

Bryson Stott hit a grand slam in the Philadelphia Phillies’ 7-1 victory over the Miami Marlins in the NL Wild Card Series. Aaron Nola pitched seven shutout innings to secure the win. The Phillies will now face the Atlanta Braves in the NL Division Series, starting on Saturday in Atlanta. Last season, the Phillies beat the Braves in the NLDS, despite finishing third in the NL East. The Braves won the NL East title this year with 104 wins, while the Phillies earned a wild card spot with 90 wins.

Stott’s grand slam in the sixth inning extended the Phillies’ lead to 7-0, and the fans celebrated the impending victory. Nola pitched a solid game, escaping a jam in the fifth inning and picking off a runner in another threatening situation. The Marlins made errors that a more experienced postseason team, like the Phillies, would not make. With the win, the Phillies continued their success in postseason home games, improving their record to 24-11 at Citizens Bank Park.

Game 1 of the NL Division Series between the Phillies and the Braves is set for Saturday. The Phillies are looking to repeat last year’s NLDS victory over the Braves, despite finishing behind them in the regular season.
