Gov. Newsom Expresses Support for Biden-Harris Administration in 2024

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has expressed his support and admiration for another four years of a Biden-Harris administration, stating that the administration has demonstrated a “masterclass” in getting things done.

CNN’s Dana Bash asked Gov. Newsom if he believes voters should be concerned about President Biden’s age if he were to serve a second term.

“Voters have every right to be concerned,” said Gov. Newsom. “I recall the words of Bobby Kennedy, who said that what the world needs are the qualities of youth, not a specific age but a state of mind, a quality of imagination.”

“I couldn’t have imagined three years ago that this president could accomplish so much in such a short time.”

Gov. Newsom expressed his desire for a “seasoned professional who knows how to accomplish things.”

President Biden, who is currently 80 years old, is the oldest president in U.S. history. He was 78 when he took office and would be 82 at the beginning of a second term. Polls have shown that a majority of voters believe President Biden to be too old to effectively serve another four years.

Gov. Newsom has been speculated as a potential replacement for President Biden if he chooses not to run for reelection. However, Gov. Newsom stated that he is satisfied with President Biden’s job performance.

“I want someone who delivers results,” Gov. Newsom emphasized. “And the results speak for themselves. There hasn’t been another administration in my lifetime that has been as effective in achieving substantive results.”

Ms. Bash asked Gov. Newsom if he believes Vice President Kamala Harris is the “ideal choice” to be on the ticket with the president, referring to an interview where former Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not explicitly state her opinion on the matter.

In response, Gov. Newsom stated that President Biden would not have achieved this level of success without Vice President Harris, despite her lower popularity in the polls.

“Of course she is,” he affirmed regarding Vice President Harris. “The Biden-Harris administration has been a masterclass in performance – bipartisan agreements on infrastructure, guns, debt ceiling, as well as the CHIPS and Science Act.”

“I mean, by definition. If I consider this administration to be one of the most outstanding in recent decades, and she’s a part of that administration, she deserves credit for much of that success. The answer is absolutely,” said Gov. Newsom.
