Milwaukee Bar Patrons Caught Off Guard by Jets’ Unexpected Victory in “Jets Lose, You Win” Offer

Hundreds of Milwaukee bar patrons were taken by surprise when the New York Jets, despite an injury that sidelined quarterback Aaron Rodgers, won in overtime. These patrons had expected their bar tabs to be paid as part of Jack’s American Pub’s “Jets Lose, You Win” promotion.

This promotion, which was announced two weeks ago, promised to pay the bar tabs of participating customers whenever the Jets, and specifically Rodgers, lost. However, there were conditions attached, including the requirement that Rodgers start the game and that tabs be opened 15 minutes before kickoff.

During the game between the Jets and the Buffalo Bills on Monday, many customers at the Milwaukee bar were hopeful of scoring free drinks when Rodgers left the game in the first quarter due to an injury. Unfortunately for them, the Jets went on to win the game 22-16 in overtime, dashing their hopes of a free night of drinking.

Following Rodgers’ injury, bar owner Scott Schaefer reported that customers started ordering more drinks, anticipating a Jets loss. The atmosphere in the bar was described as “mixed” when the Jets ended up winning instead.

About 350 patrons took advantage of the bar’s offer on Monday night, with the average tab amounting to $50 to $60. However, some outliers had higher tabs, including $160 and $130.

With Rodgers now out for the season, Schaefer expressed the desire to continue a promotion related to the Jets, although the specific details have yet to be determined.

“We’re going to try to do something else. We want to see what happens over the next couple of days,” Schaefer said.
